ENDOSCOPIKI SA team, in collaboration with Fujifilm Holdings Corporation and the Director of the Gastroenterology Department of Athens Medical Center Dr. Dimitris Karagiannis, carried out the first national demonstration of the innovative software SCALE EYE of Fujifilm in Athens Medical Group in the presence of the CEO Dr. Vassilis Apostolopoulos.
Use SCALE EYE
The new software for SCALE EYE real-time virtual scale function is designed to help endoscopists estimate the size of lesions in the colon. SCALE EYE is the latest technology to be launched as part of the ELUXEO ULTRA platform, thus delivering a comprehensive package for endoscopists. Colorectal cancer is the second most frequently occurred cancer (12.7%) in Europe. As a result, early detection and diagnosis have been proven to significantly reduce the complexity of treatment and improve patient’s outcomes. When deciding on therapeutic intervention within the colon, such as Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection ESD, lesion size is considered one of the important factors. However, it is not always clear to estimate lesion size in the endoscopic field of view.
SCALE EYE & EC-760S Colonoscope
In order to cover this need, Fujifilm in collaboration with Dr. Dimitris Karagiannis, developed SCALE EYE, to aid endoscopists in estimating the size of the lesions in the colon. The SCALE EYE system with the newly developed colonoscope EC-760S, is equipped with a laser which is visible with the endoscopic image. The position of the laser point changes relative to the distance between the tip of the colonoscope and the object. Depending on this laser point position, the scale interval size adjusts automatically. With this new innovative system, endoscopists will have the chance to further improve the examination of colonoscopy. Finally patients will enjoy even more safety and top class medical services.
